Team Nihon Series was created in 2018 by a Japanese filmmaker based in Los Angeles and DCI/WGI Photographer/Videographer, Masora Fukuda, to help compel stories of performing members from Japan that are often untold due to a language barrier. Team Nihon series hopes to showcase their dedication, hard work, and challenge, and sheds lights on their bravery and joy of chasing the dream.

チーム日本シリーズは2018年にロスアンゼルスを拠点に活動する日本人映画プロデューサーであり、DCI/WGIの写真家でもある福田真宙(ふくだまそら)により作られたシリーズ。言語の壁によって現地コミュニティにはあまり知られない、日本からDCI・WGIに挑戦するメンバーの話を伝える。エピソードを通してメンバーの努力、熱心さ、挑戦に触れ、夢を追うことへの勇気や楽しさを魅せる。

All marchers leave everything on the field once on finals night, but Team Nihon members leave everything behind twice, at move-ins and on finals night. They are a group of people who leave their home country to challenge their best potential at DCI/WGI. Many of their journeys begin with working part-time to earn money to cover the marching fees of their dreams groups, and practicing whatever they can get hands-on with limited resources. Both language and economic barriers, members from Japan come to the U.S. ready to face their full potential as a performer with one thought in their mind: “This is where it’s at.” By shining a spotlight on each journey, STAY OTHER hopes build a bridge between U.S. and Japanese marching communities.

母国を離れ、全てを賭けてDCI/WGIに挑戦するチーム日本のパフォーマーたち。憧れのグループを目指す彼らの旅は、バイトして費用をコツコツ貯めたり、手当たり次第にひたすら練習してみるところから始まる。言語の壁、国の壁、経済の壁...あらゆる壁がある中で「やはり本場でやってみたい」と、とまらない思いに素直に答えるため、自分と向き合い続けている日本からのチャレンジャーたち。現地のパフォーマーには想像できない部分へえとスポットライトを当てることで、STAYOTHERはその旅のお手伝いと、現地コミュニティとの架け橋を作れたら、と考えています。
